Taking its title from the classic series by Aphex Twin this project seeks to evoke the atmospheres and textures of ambient music and interlace these with data about pollution and weather in the air around us. As a methodology this project is trying to find complementary ways to explore and interact with climate science and its relationship to culture. It seeks to open new routes into learning by animating scientific data as a compositional resource. The project uses a sensor system assembled during a recent project with FACT Liverpool. This blog will detail the approach leading up to a residency provided by the Digital Arts Centre in Taipei to develop and explore this approach and to create a learning resource for young people and communities.
